About Us

"Children are growing up in a different world today and need more than traditional nursery rhymes to help them develop a positive self-image. Helping young children to develop their spirit, imagination and self-confidence can be achieved through music that is both fun and relatable to them."

Musical Magic is one of Chicago’s most innovative children’s centers, allowing budding babes to explore their spirit and imagination through the wonderfully fun and approachable medium of music.  Owner and Director, Katie Jeep, takes great strides to develop and improve the child/parent relationship through musical enrichment and discovery.

The classes at Musical Magic are aimed at children ages newborn through four-years-old, and they incorporate numerous props — including colorful hand puppets, sheer scarves, musical instruments, rhythm sticks and egg shakers — to keep children curious while also cultivating dexterity, coordination, decision making and sharing skills.  Located in Roscoe Village, the epicenter for children’s shops and activities, Musical Magic not only provides classes that will entertain and engage you and your little one, but also provides a community for parents and caregivers to meet, greet and swap stories.

A singer and pianist since the age of 8, Katie Jeep’s greatest passion is the arts.  Her mother and father enrolled Katie in music, dance and art classes starting at a very early age.  She continued piano lessons for 10 years and was involved in musical theatre and choir in school as a child and teenager.  She went on to study Acting at the Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, then Classical Theatre and Voice at Webber Douglas Academy in London.  During breaks from school she taught singing and creative drama to little ones at summer camps and training programs in the US and UK.  After graduation, she focused on her acting career in Chicago.  Along with some commercial and film work, she was involved in over 40 theatre productions all over the Chicagoland area and is a proud member of the Actors’ Equity Association.  Though she was involved in many different types of productions, her favorite shows to be involved in were theatre productions performed for children and young audiences.  Among her favorites were The Little Prince, Coyote and His Brothers, Green Eggs and Ham and Goodman Theatre’s production of A Christmas Carol.  She has seen firsthand how exposing children to the arts, especially music and theater, enlivens their imaginations.  Encouraging them to participate in song and dance gives them the key to unlock their creative expression and confidence.

Musical Magic has aspired to inspire your children since opening its doors in September of 2002.  Katie Jeep is the new owner of Musical Magic as of March 2011.  She is very excited to CONTINUE THE MAGIC!

Musical Magic is based on the philosophy that music
shared with young children can help encourage language development, self-expression and creativity. They will begin to develop confidence that will last them a lifetime.
